yourself for the final trimester, which is as crucial as the other two. Your baby continues to grow and so do you.
Besides that, the excitement regarding arrival of the baby starts building up and you start growing nervous about
giving birth. There is a lot to know about third trimester of pregnancy and we have tried to cover as much as possible.
Taking care of your body:
For your baby to get the requisite nutrition you have to eat right. Besides that, mild exercise would be great for
keeping you fit and in best shape for delivery.
Baby birth is considered at three weeks prior to the due date. Hence you need to remain prepared accordingly.
You would gain weight at the rate of one pound (400 grams approximate) a week. In order to keep up with the
body’s nutritional requirements you need to take 300 extra calories a day while balancing proteins and
carbohydrates. However, you would start feeling full despite eating only half a meal.
Why so? This is because your uterus would be pressing against your stomach.
Instead of consuming three big meals, try opting for six to eight smaller meals.
Make it a point that your diet consists of recommended dosage of proteins and carbohydrates.
Mild exercise should be safe during third trimester of your pregnancy lest you are at the risk of delivering
preterm baby. Lifting weights during this period is best avoided as that can put undue pressure on the
ligaments that happen to get relaxed during pregnancy. In case you are planning for moderate to heavy
exercise during this period you ought to consult your doctor or midwife first.
Brisk walking and/or prenatal exercise classes can be opted for in case you are not comfortable performing
exercises. Exercises for the back and the spine should prepare you for childbirth and taking care of the baby
since you are going to perform a lot of lifting.
